Well, after a lot of looking Danielle and I finally found a car and bought it. Its a 1998 Nissan Pulsar hatchback. Reliable and practical but nothing special. Most importantly it has air conditioning! We got a really good deal on the thing after much haggling. Its got hight kilometers but seems to be in great shape.
It's got a manual transmission so on top of driving on the wrong side of the road I've got to learn to shift with my left hand. Very strange indeed. I think I'm doing really well so far. I had to drive the car quiet a distance to get it home and everything went fine.
Danielle and I spent this afternoon cleaning and detailing the car. It looks great now. The paint shines in the bright sunlight. I like the color - not that we were shopping for a particular color. Its got some strange plastic covers over both front windows. You can clearly see them in the picture of us washing the car. These plastic bits are common on cars here in Perth. I plan to take them off asap because I think they look silly and serve no purpose.
Enjoy the pictures.

I hope we can get those plastic things off, they are absolutely hideous! The car will look much more sporty without them and less like a grandpa's car! :)
on man that car is so fly! It looks awesome, you are now the coolest Canadian in Perth without question.
Is it going to be hard to get that thing fully insured and licencened etc?
Also, did you find out all of the info I would need to get a cheap flight down there? You were telling me about some deal or something, I would strongly consider it right now for sure.
Insurance is VERY cheap here in Australia. Also, licensing is easy because the plates stay with every car until its take off the road.
As for cheap flights I will let you know! That would rock if you could get down here.
The car looks to be in great shape from the outside less the plastic things of course . . . sound difficult to get use to shifting & cluching as well as driving on the other side of the road as well but I guess one would get use to it . . . anyway this car will provide a great deal of freedom and make your time there more enjoyable to say the least . . . congrats to both of you for taking the plunge!
