It’s almost over

Four of five exams are done. In fact the four difficult ones are done. Tomorrow is my public health final which will be more of a speed writing competition than an actual knowledge based exam.

Today was my pharmacology final. It was four questions in one hour and the exam was worth sixty percent of my final grade in the course. Terrible format if you ask me. The exam went fine but I still think testing an entire course in such a short exam is ridiculous.

I’m really looking forward to being done. Danielle and I will hopefully get out to do something fun. Maybe I’ll even take pictures for the blog.

Anyway I better start studying for public health.

Want half a croissant?

So, I’m up late studying for my upcoming exam week. This week is by far the worst exam schedule I’ve ever had. The first exam was yesterday (Friday). Now I’ve got an exam a day Monday to Thursday. Terrible!

So, anyway I just made a cup of tea and I tore a croissant in half to snack on. Now I’m thinking… who eats half a croissant? Seriously!?

On the bright side…

It looks like I don’t have tuberculosis. That’s always good news. I Had the Mantoux injection today and currently there is a small puncture wound in my skin but no signs of inflammation… yet. It’s still early but based on these preliminary results I’m going to say that I’m Mantoux negative.

Right now, I’m studying pathology - which happens to be one of my favorite subjects. Morbid, I know.

School

The head of my pharmacy school sent out this email to all the students yesterday:

Dear Everyone

On behalf of the pharmacy staff, I wish you every success in your examinations. You are all very capable of passing everything and doing well.

Best wishes

He's such a pro. He starts all his mass emails with "Dear Everyone" and I think it's funny. The school is definitely top notch which makes Australia not so bad.

Still studying but that's about it. Work tomorrow.

I graduated from the University of Alberta. I can’t believe its been a year already. I also can’t believe I’m 2 weeks away from being half done my masters. The past year has been crazy. That’s all there is to say.

Currently I’m studying some pharmacology notes. I feel as though I’m on the verge of getting a cold. Hopefully I don’t get sick but the stress of finals doesn’t exactly help.

Laundrobar

More pictures from my cell. Our house has a washer but no dryer. This isn't abnormal because normally its so hot here that clothes dry on the drying rack very quickly. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy today and so we went to use the dryer at laundrobar near our place. Good times were had by all. This picture clearly shows the style of sidewalk, composed of slabs, which is typically seen in Perth. These slabs make for terrible sidewalks because the slabs are all uneven. Tripping hazards at every step; also not fun to bike on. The slabs pictured here appear to be rather level. Don't be fooled as, from my experience, this photo represents an outlier in my random sampling of perth sidewalks.

Pulsar in the rain! It has been a great car. Notice the trailer hitch for my Seadoo. Oh wait I don't have a Seadoo... yet.

Random Pictures From My Cellphone (Mobile)

This is a picture I took of the Australian sugar milk selections available at the local IGA. Actually this particular picture only shows about 20% of the avaiable sugar milk selections. As you can see, the purple one on the left is EGGNOG. This is a pile of Australian $5, $10, $20, and $50 NOTES, not bills, NOTES! This particular pile of money is destined to be a rent payment. I hate paying rent!
I snapped this photo after dropping off my public health assignment last week. This illusive creature was hiding the bushes on campus and I manged to get a quick photo before it retreated into the jungle.

It never ends

Studying that is. There are always more powerpoints to look at or more chapters to read. No matter how much you prepare the night before always seems to be a frenzy. There is just too much to memorize sometimes.

I'm studying for finals at the moment.

Orphans with AIDS and how they affect global warming

My public health paper is now complete. Its due tomorrow at 3:30 and I'm glad its done the night before. I know some of my classmates will be working through the night. Actually, I can see a few of them are still logged on to the class website. I ended up not doing a report on orphans with aids and how they affect global warming but instead did it on antibiotic resistance as a public health problem. Two more days of classes until the exam "break" starts. I can't wait.

Night!
