Marks

This term I’ve been performing much better the in the marks department. Possibly because I’m more “settled” in Perthtown or maybe even because I’m working harder. Actually, the real reason is most likely because I’ve seen most of the material before as part of my last degree. That always helps. Either way I’m happy with my marks. Most recently I scored a distinction grade on my medicinal chemistry exam. Chemistry is not exactly my forte so I’m really pleased with myself.

Currently it’s late on Friday night and sadly I’m working on a lab report. This happens to be my last lab report for the term (golf clap). Tomorrow isn’t going to be fun because I’m STARTING a, rather lengthy, term paper which is due this upcoming Thursday. It’s going to be a long haul that’s for sure. The term paper is in public health which, as I’ve mentioned before, is a very “fluffy” course. I swear to mark these papers they’re just going to toss them on to a scale an assign grades based on weight. That reminds me… I need pick up a ream of dense paper.

Lab Reports Are Getting Old

It’s late, very late, and I just finished a lab report which is due tomorrow at 8AM. If you ever need to determine the uniformity of dosage in quinine sulfate tablets based on the British Pharmacopoeia standard I can help you.

Good night.

Nedlands

Since this blog is so dead I thought I'd try to spice it up with some random pictures. Just went outside and took these:

There seems to always be random foreign people on this phone. Seriously its occupied 95% of the time. Also visible is the back of Domino's pizza and off in the distance one of the many traffic circles (roundabouts!) which replace the need for stop signs in residential area's.

EDIT: I don't know why but looking at this picture makes me think of Vancouver.

The front side of the shops. Domino's, some fish & chips place, Dazzle Dogs (never opened), and a pool supply store. Note the phone booth in the distance.

Up close picture of the traffic circle. When approaching these all you have to do is look right. If there is no one right you can drive in at speed. This particular one is terrible because, as you can see, it's a blind corner.

This is an australian parking sign.
This is the palm tree on our front lawn which is only about 5 square meters.
That is all.

Recap of the week

Its Saturday afternoon and I've been trying to study all day. Its not going well. We've got a big medicinal chemistry exam this Friday and I should be studying hard for it but this past week full of exams was exhausting.

We had a dispensing exam this week. The script was for a progesterone only contraceptive pill. It wasn't exactly straight forward but I passed and that's all that matters. These labs are so stressful I literally sweat bullets the entire 35 minutes. Oh well at least that's done for now.

Other than that we also had an exam on immunology and infectious diseases this week. Thanks to my background from UofA this exam turned out to be simple.

Geography… Know it!!!

During our break between classes today I was chatting with the person sitting next to me. Presumably because of my accent, she asked me where I was from. When I told her she replied with “where is Canada?” She honestly had no idea. I told her that it’s in North America. You guessed, she once again replied with “where is that?” How is that even possible? Canada is the second largest country in the world! Glance at a glove and you will probably notice, at the very least, Canada and Russia – the two huge countries. The saddest part of this entire experience is that she was a third year medical student.

Drawing

This site was posted on one of the forums I frequent:

Draw something and send it to a stranger!

I sent a happy face and got this UFO drawing in return.

Foodstuff

There are so many things I miss about home. One thing I miss is normal food and all my favorite restaurants back home. Right now I'm really feeling like some sushi. In particular some dragon eyes from mikado. Earlier today I was craving Old dutch jalapeno cheddar chips. Yum.
