Fire Soccer

The case I had today involved a 14 year old boy who thought it would be a good idea to play soccer with a tennis ball in which has been soaked in gas and lit on fire. He called it fire soccer! He suffered severe burns on both of his legs (a total of 25% of his body). His burns have now become infected. I included the picture above as the background on my powerpoint slides for this particular case presentation.

Pulled Over...

On the way back from the coffee shop I was pulled over by the cops at a radar trap. I was going about 65 in a 60 and couldn't believe they pulled me over. Anyway, the cop came to the window and was incredibly nice! What a surprise. He reassured me that I wasn't getting a ticket but only a warning. Perfect! No complaints on my end. He sent us on our way without issue.

Other than that I've been at the childrens hospital for two days now. I like it there - definietly a welcomed change after Graylands mental hospital. My case today was a 13 year old boy with Acute myeloid leukemia. Pretty sad but the cure rate is pretty high and he was at the end of his chemo. Interesting so far.

Computer...

My computer stopped working on Friday. It's under warranty so I took it in to Apple right away. Their service department has a two week turn around time right now so I'm using Danielle's computer. Lucky we don't share a computer or we'd be screwed.

Metal Hospital

Working at Graylands this past week has not been very enjoyable. The cases are strange and the patients are even stranger. Its frustrating that we don't really have pharmacological solutions to help these people. We can manage them but its still inadequate.

I've only got another week at Graylands then I'm on to the children's hospital. That should be refreshing.
