Eight Weeks Left
So, I was just looking at my time table for this term and noticed that I've got only eight weeks of classes left. Crazy! I can't even believe it's that soon. However, there is still lots of work to be done. Back to it then.

Insitu testing
Last week we has a class where we got to use some of the testing equipment that is available in a typical pharmacy. I was happy to see my blood sugar was within normal range. In fact, everything looks good! I guess I'm doing okay health wise. This pharmacy course hasn't killed me yet. Other tests available were INR, BMI, waist-to-hip ratio, Blood pressure, and lung function.
We also found out that Stephen put on a bunch of weight since starting pharmacy school. Its the nature of the beast.
In other news, I got nowhere with my research project last week. Currently, I'm trying to actually get some bench work done. What a joke. The HPLC was acting up big time. No one could get it working! Apparently it will be sorted out by Tuesday.
Currently, I am procrastinating...

Sculpture by the sea

Recently, we went to an art exhibit called sculpture by the sea. I've attached some of my favorite sculptures. A good time was had by all.

Notice how blue/clear the sky is in all of these pictures. It's like that nearly everyday here. When it rains it the sky clears up in a matter of minutes. It's crazy. I'm used to the gloomy sky's back home and some days I miss the grayness. I'll chant for rain at the sight of any clouds.

Busy, finished rotations, on to the next term
This blog has been dead because I've been really busy with school and life. Also, we moved into a new place and it took nearly four weeks to have internet installed. What a joke but at the same time classic Perth. I've said it before and I'll say it again - their laid back way of doing things is all fine and good until you need to get something done. Ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm in my last term of this pharmacy degree. Its been really busy. Half of my credits this term come from a research project that I'm doing. It's about paracetamol (acetaminophen) and how it interacts with PVC bags for IV use. The makers of perfalgan, the product in question, did all their stability studies in glass. Which is funny because in practice everyone uses PVC syringes and bags. I'm hoping the stuff reacts with plastic because if it does my supervisor said she'd publish it. We'll see.
The hospital placement went really well. I was lucky to get the opportunity. Apparently, this is the only pharmacy school in Australia where each student gets a hospital rotation. I always thought I would do community pharmacy but now I'm applying at hospitals. In fact, I have an interview at the local teaching hospital this week. I really hope I get the position!
